My Friend That Lurks in The Dark
I am lurking in the shadows,
at the back of your brain.
I crawl to your hollow,
fragile frame.
Bloodshot eyes turn to see,
searching for them, but they’re not here.
Your mind begs to be set free,
but you’ve already fallen prey to your fear.
I make my way through your shivers,
reciting our favorite lines religiously.
Under my embrace your body quivers,
you beg me to leave you vigorously.
You scream and scream at the poor mirrors,
but they only stare at you cautiously.
I am your friend that lurks in the dark.
Not the kind of friend you’ll find in the park.
I am the line between sanity and insanity.
I am everything but verity.
